ertha helps you get the practical side of your affairs properly in order – the part that often falls between the cracks even when you have a Will and a good financial adviser. This includes consolidating your important documents, mapping your digital accounts, building a practical record of your wishes and contacts, and making sure the right people can act on your behalf if needed.

Your attorney and financial adviser work at a legal and advisory level — and that work is essential. ertha works at the practical execution level alongside them, filling the gap they don’t typically cover. Think of it as making sure the groundwork is done so that everyone else, including your professional team, can do their job more effectively when the time comes.

Not necessarily. Every person’s situation is different, and some people only need one or two areas addressed. During your initial consultation we’ll talk through what you have in place and what needs attention, and take it from there – without pressure and without obligation.

For simpler or more straightforward estates, an Essential Edition of the Handover File is available. This is discussed during your initial consultation once we have a clearer picture of what your situation requires.

It depends on the complexity of your affairs and how much you’d like to talk through along the way – and that’s perfectly fine. As a general guide, a Handover File typically takes around 90 minutes. If a Document Audit is done at the same time, allow around 2.5 to 3 hours in total. We work at a pace that suits you.

Not unless you choose to. ertha’s work is about organisation and access – listing what exists and making sure it can be found – rather than scrutinising the detail. You are in control of what you share.

That’s something we discuss and decide together. Printed copies are popular and practical, but electronic versions are equally possible, or a combination of both. Whatever works best for you and the people who may need to access them.

ertha is based in Gauteng. Consultations take place in person in Gauteng or online for anyone elsewhere in South Africa.
